Pink Pitaya Smoothie

September 17, 2026

This is the smoothie that earns its place on the counter just by looking the way it does. The pink pitaya powder turns it a deep, vivid rose — no food colouring, no tricks. Just dragon fruit doing what it does.

Banana gives it body and natural sweetness. The whole lemon — peel and all — keeps it bright and stops it from tipping into cloying. Orange juice ties everything together. It is simple, it is fast, and it is genuinely lovely to drink.

What you'll need

  • 1 seedless lemon — whole, including peel
  • 1 ripe banana — fresh or frozen
  • 1 cup freshly pressed orange juice
  • 3–4 teaspoons Suncore Foods Pink Pitaya Powder
  • A pinch of Himalayan pink salt
  • Ice, to taste

How to make it

  1. 1

Clean the lemon using the PurePod Produce Cleaner, or rinse well under cold running water.

  2. 2

Add the whole seedless lemon, banana, orange juice, pink pitaya powder, Himalayan pink salt, and ice to your blender.

  3. 3

Blend on the smoothie setting. Run the cycle two to three times for a thick, airy texture. The banana gives it a natural creaminess — the more frozen the banana, the thicker the result.

  4. 4

Pour into a glass. The colour should be a deep, vivid rose. Serve immediately.

Why it works

  • Pink pitaya powder: Pink pitaya — dragon fruit — is rich in antioxidants, particularly betacyanins, the plant pigments responsible for its vivid colour. These compounds help neutralise free radicals in the body, which reduces oxidative stress and the low-grade cellular damage associated with ageing and chronic inflammation. Pitaya also provides vitamin C, which supports immune function and collagen production, and prebiotic fibre, which feeds the beneficial bacteria in your gut and supports digestive health. The iron content is modest but meaningful, particularly when paired with the vitamin C in the lemon and orange juice, which significantly improves iron absorption.
  • Banana: Banana is one of the best natural sources of potassium — a mineral your body uses to regulate fluid balance, support healthy blood pressure, and keep your heart rhythm steady. It also provides vitamin B6, which your nervous system needs to produce serotonin and dopamine, the neurotransmitters that regulate mood, sleep, and focus. The natural sugars in banana — fructose, glucose, and sucrose — are released gradually alongside the fibre, which means you get sustained energy rather than a spike and crash. A ripe banana also contains resistant starch, which acts as a prebiotic and feeds the healthy bacteria in your gut.
  • Whole lemon with peel: Using the whole seedless lemon — peel and all — means you get the vitamin C from the juice and the flavonoids and fibre concentrated in the pith and zest. The peel is where much of the citrus's aromatic oils and plant compounds live, and blending it whole puts all of that into your glass. The vitamin C also significantly improves the absorption of the iron from the pitaya powder. The citric acid in lemon supports kidney health by reducing the risk of certain types of kidney stones, and the limonene in the zest has well-documented antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Freshly pressed orange juice: Fresh orange juice delivers a concentrated hit of vitamin C, which primes your immune system and helps your body produce collagen — the protein that keeps skin, joints, and blood vessels strong. The folate supports DNA repair and healthy cell division, while the potassium helps your muscles contract properly and keeps blood pressure in a healthy range. Drinking it freshly pressed means the vitamin C has not had time to degrade, so you get the full benefit in every glass.
  • Himalayan pink salt: A pinch of Himalayan pink salt does more than season — it balances the sweetness and brings the other flavours into focus. Salt plays an important role in fluid balance, helping your body retain the hydration it gets from the fruit and juice. It also supports nerve signalling and muscle function, and the trace minerals naturally present in Himalayan salt — including potassium, magnesium, and calcium — contribute in small amounts to your overall mineral intake.
