The Daily Smoothie — White Nectarine Twist

September 13, 2026

This is the smoothie I reach for when I want something bright, silky, and genuinely satisfying without making a production out of breakfast. White nectarine gives it a soft, floral sweetness that feels a little more special than an ordinary morning blend.

Lemon, ginger, and a pinch of chili flakes bring a lively little spark to every sip. It is simple enough for an ordinary morning, but lovely enough to make the day feel like it has started on the right foot.

What you'll need

  • 1 seedless lemon — whole, including peel
  • 1 white nectarine — stone removed, roughly chopped
  • 1 generous handful fresh spinach
  • 1 cup freshly pressed orange juice
  • A pinch of chili flakes
  • A pinch of ground ginger
  • A pinch of Himalayan pink salt
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • Honey, to taste
  • Ice, to taste
  • Your favourite pantry spices — use fresh when you have them, or reach for the spices you already keep in your kitchen drawer

How to make it

  1. 1

Clean the lemon, nectarine, and spinach using the PurePod Produce Cleaner. Drop them into a bowl of water, press the button, and let it run its cycle.

  2. 2

Add all ingredients to the SMEG blender — the whole seedless lemon, white nectarine, spinach, orange juice, chili flakes, ground ginger, Himalayan pink salt, olive oil, honey, and ice.

  3. 3

Blend on the smoothie with chunks setting. Run the cycle three times — this is what gives the smoothie its thick, fluffy, almost creamy consistency. Do not rush it; each cycle builds the texture.

  4. 4

Pour into a glass and enjoy right away. The texture should be thick and airy — almost like a soft, icy mousse.

Ingredient benefits

  • White nectarine: White nectarine provides vitamin C, which your body uses to build and repair tissue, support your immune system, and produce collagen — the protein that keeps skin, joints, and blood vessels strong. It also contains potassium, which helps regulate blood pressure and keeps your heart rhythm steady, and vitamin A, which supports eye health and helps your immune system respond to infection.
  • Whole seedless lemon with peel: Using the whole lemon — peel and all — means you get the vitamin C from the juice and the flavonoids and fibre concentrated in the pith and zest. The peel is where much of the citrus's aromatic oils and plant compounds live, and blending it whole puts all of that into your glass. The vitamin C also helps your body absorb the iron from the spinach, and the citric acid supports kidney health by reducing the risk of certain types of kidney stones.
  • Fresh spinach: Spinach is rich in iron, which your body needs to carry oxygen in the blood — low iron is one of the most common causes of fatigue. It also provides magnesium, which supports muscle function, nerve signalling, and sleep quality, and folate, which is essential for cell repair and particularly important during pregnancy. Vitamin K in spinach plays a key role in blood clotting and bone strength.
  • Freshly pressed orange juice: Fresh orange juice delivers a concentrated hit of vitamin C, which primes your immune system and helps your body produce collagen. The folate supports DNA repair and healthy cell division, while the potassium helps your muscles contract properly and keeps blood pressure in a healthy range. Drinking it freshly pressed means the vitamin C has not had time to degrade, so you get the full benefit.
  • Chili flakes: The capsaicin in chili flakes is the compound that creates heat, and it has a well-documented effect on circulation — it temporarily dilates blood vessels, which improves blood flow. It also triggers the release of endorphins, which is part of why spicy food can lift your mood. Some research suggests capsaicin may support metabolism by slightly increasing the rate at which your body burns energy.
  • Ground ginger: Ground ginger contains gingerols and shogaols — the compounds responsible for its warmth and its long history in traditional wellness. These compounds have well-documented anti-inflammatory properties, meaning they help reduce the kind of low-grade inflammation that can contribute to joint discomfort and sluggishness over time. Ground ginger also supports digestion by helping to move food through the stomach more efficiently, which can ease bloating and nausea.
  • Himalayan pink salt: A pinch of Himalayan pink salt does more than season — it helps balance the sweetness and brings the other flavours into focus. Salt plays an important role in fluid balance, helping your body retain the hydration it gets from the fruit and juice. It also supports nerve signalling and muscle function, and the trace minerals naturally present in Himalayan salt — including potassium, magnesium, and calcium — contribute in small amounts to your overall mineral intake.
  • Extra-virgin olive oil: The monounsaturated fats in extra-virgin olive oil are essential for absorbing fat-soluble vitamins — vitamins A and K from the spinach and nectarine cannot be properly absorbed without fat present. Olive oil also contains oleocanthal, a naturally occurring compound with anti-inflammatory properties, and it supports heart health by helping maintain healthy cholesterol levels.
  • Honey: Raw honey contains natural enzymes and trace antioxidants that help protect cells from oxidative stress. It has a gentler effect on blood sugar than refined sugar because it is metabolised more slowly. It also has well-known antimicrobial properties — particularly raw and Manuka varieties — and has been used traditionally to soothe the throat and support the immune system during illness.

Together, these ingredients make a smoothie that is bright, silky and satisfying — and genuinely good for you from the first sip.
