I've always cooked. Life just changed how.

Mrs. Edwards at her kitchen table

I've always cooked. Life just demanded I do it differently — faster, simpler, and with my health at the centre of it.

How it started

Cooking has always been part of my life, even if I wasn't the best at it — and still am not. But life demanded me to step it up and do it differently: faster, simpler, and with my health at the centre of it. And the bonus is that my family gets the benefits too.

Life made me focus on other things than cooking for a time — and that's part of why my health was declining. I needed to go back to the start. To do it from scratch and choose better quality, non-processed food, as much as possible. To use whole foods again in my cooking.

That is the perspective I bring to Mrs. Edward's Kitchen: a home cook documenting whole-food recipes, practical kitchen tools, and everyday wellness routines that can fit into a busy life. I share what I make, test, use, and learn along the way — not a medical prescription or professional health advice.

The turning point

Whole foods changed my health. Cooking changed my life.

I found my way back to the kitchen — not dramatically, but slowly. Real food. Whole ingredients. Cooking that takes a little time and gives a great deal back. And yes, I treat myself with a little luxury at times too, because that's part of living with a silver lining.

I've had missteps. I still do. But I've found tools that help, rhythms that work, and a way of eating and living that makes the hard days more manageable and the good ones genuinely joyful.

I don't think I'm alone in this. That's why I share what I do here — the recipes, the struggles, the products that actually help. All of it contributes to a life with a silver lining, from food to lifestyle, products, trips and treatment.

What I believe

Simple food. Real ingredients. No perfection required.

Whole over processed

I cook with ingredients my great-grandmother would recognise — just real food in its most honest form — whenever possible.

Nourishment is the key

This isn't about dieting or deprivation. It's about feeding yourself well and finding genuine pleasure in life and your meals.

Slow and intentional

Some of the best meals take a little time. I've learned to love that — the chopping, the stirring, the waiting. It's part of the medicine. Like your healing, it will also require time.

Cooking is connection

Every recipe here is rooted in where I come from. Growing up between northern Europe and the south, cooking from scratch wasn't a trend — it was just how it was done. Whole ingredients, less wasted, nothing processed — if possible.

A little more about me

I'm Mrs. Edward — and this kitchen is where my healing begins. It grounds me, and a shared meal is one of the finest things in life, a piece of the silver lining. And now, you are part of that silver lining too.

This blog is my honest account of what it looks like to care for yourself in your mid-fifties, with a complicated body and a full life. I am not an expert, doctor, dietitian, or specialist. What I share comes from real-life experience: cooking from scratch for my family, using the kitchen tools and pantry staples I recommend, and reflecting on routines that help me feel more grounded. These are personal stories and observations, not medical guidance.

If any of it finds its way to your table — or your life — and if you feel you are regenerating your health, then that's everything I could hope for.
